them_realPatriarchal Lineage

The patriarch of the Adams' Family is Themophilis Adams.  He was born on November 26, 1917 in Good, Maddocha to Harriett Adams.  Although his father is not known, it is rumored that his father is the famous African-American leader of Maddocha, Josias Carter.  Themophilis became disgruntled with his father's refusal to acknowledge him.  He moved to Dorinda in 1932 to make a life of his own.

He was very fascinated with chemicals and chemical reactions.  He obtained a job at the Jonas Chemical Plant.  The chemical plant was an ideal place for Themophilis because it allowed him to work around chemicals.

Themophilis was a janitor at first, but soon he caught the eye of Tobias Jonas, who was a chemical engineer at the plant. Tobias took an interest in Themophilis and began to teach him about chemicals. The friendship between the two men blossomed and they still remain friends today.

In 1937, Themophilis met Mary Hatley of Absanie, Maddocha. The two were married soon after that. This union was blessed with nine children, five boys and four girls.

Themophilis had a desire to be an entrepreneur. In 1960, he began the Shimmers A-lot Hair Care Products Company. Themophilis had developed a product that helped to straighten out African-American hair.

By 1977, Themophilis had 3,452 people working for him and his company was growing rapidly. Today, Shimmers, Inc. is flourishing. Themophilis serves on the Board of Directors. His granddaughter, Kourtnee Adams Shields, is the CEO.
